FAQ
frequently asked questions
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is directed at present-time issues and based on the idea that the way an individual thinks and feels affects the way he or she behaves. The focus is on problem solving, and the goal is to change clients' thought patterns in order to change their responses to difficult situations. (Psychology Today)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) provides clients with new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships. DBT specifically focuses on providing skills in four key areas. First, mindfulness focuses on improving an individual's ability to accept and be present in the current moment. Second, distress tolerance is geared toward increasing a person’s tolerance of negative emotion, rather than trying to escape from it. Third, emotion regulation covers strategies to manage and change intense emotions that are causing problems in a person’s life. Fourth, interpersonal effectiveness consists of techniques that allow a person to communicate with others in a way that is assertive, maintains self-respect, and strengthens relationships. (Psychology Today)
EFT, also known as “tapping” uses the fingertips to stimulate energy points in the body. The founder of EFT believed that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system and that tapping on the paths through which “life energy” is believed to flow in the body (meridian points) releases blockages. These specific pathways of energy or meridians help balance energy flow to maintain your health. Imbalance of energy flow can result in disease or sickness. Tapping with the fingertips on these meridian points is believed to release the blockage, thus releasing the pain or distress. (WebMD)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioners work with clients to understand their thinking and behavioral patterns, emotional state, and aspirations to assist them in strengthening the skills that serve them best and assist them in developing new strategies to replace unproductive ones. hypnotherapy faqs
Hypnotherapy is a form of mind -body therapy that takes place in a deep state of relaxation. Hypnotherapy taps into your subconscious mind by using guided imagery and breath work to help you achieve a heightened state of relaxation while focusing your attention and awareness on limiting beliefs that you might have hidden from your conscious mind that are the cause of unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In this relaxed state, one is more open and receptive to the power of suggestion. (Wellness Institute)
Because the hypnotic state allows one to be more open to suggestion, you can turn your attention completely inward to find and utilize the natural resources deep within yourself that can help make improvements in various aspects of your life.
Hypnotherapy can be useful treating:
- Addictions
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Disordered Eating
- Phobias
- PTSD
Hypnotherapy is not dangerous. You are awake and aware of your surroundings and can voluntarily come out of this relaxed state of mind at any time. Unlike stage hypnosis, you will not be unconscious, asleep, or in any way out of control.
I will guide you into a relaxed, focused state and explore aspects of your subconscious mind by asking you to think about past situations and help you to reprocess these experiences and see them from a different perspective which can help change the way you perceive yourself and empower you to make progress towards your expressed desires and goals. Once relaxed, the mind is more open to positive suggestions and transformative messages.
You will hear my suggestions and positive affirmations, but it is ultimately up to you to decide whether or not to embrace and implement the suggestions.
Hypnotherapy is for anyone that wants to experience deep relaxation with the goal of addressing and treating undesired emotional, psychological, behavioral, and/or physical symptoms.

Reiki faqs
Reiki is a form of energy healing. Using gentle hand movements, Reiki practitioners guide energy within a person’s body to encourage self-healing. Reiki describes a system for tapping into universal life force energy that flows through our body. Reiki is a precise method for connecting life force energy with the body's innate healing ability. (Your Health Wellness Centre)
Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
During an in-person reiki session, the practitioner will place their hands either on or a few inches away from the client’s body. They will connect to the energy of their clients, help clear blocks, and infuse the body with the energies of love and light. During a distant session, the practitioner will send these energies through time and space.
You may feel some warmth or coolness, tingling, or simply relaxed. Some people may see some colors or visuals. Regardless of whether you notice sensations or not, trust that reiki is flowing for your highest good. There is no need to get too hung up on these sensations. Everyone is different and every Reiki treatment is different. Additionally, pay attention to how you feel after the Reiki treatment(s). You may sleep better or feel more centered and less triggered.
Drink some water. It’s a good idea to avoid alcohol or recreational drugs as they alter your consciousness.
If you’re receiving a distant session, find a comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed.
Set an intention for your session. What do you want to heal? What are you ready to release? What are you ready to manifest? This doesn’t have to be an elaborate process. Simply write down the first few things that come to mind.
Trust that you will receive exactly what you need in that moment.
You may journal about your session and make notes of how you felt. Did you receive any messages? What is ready to heal on a deeper level?
Notice any changes in perception. Do you see any person or situation differently than prior? What is the quality of your thoughts like?
Notice any changes in your physical body. How does your breath flow?
Continue drinking water to flush out any toxins that may have been dislodged from your system.
Lastly, feel free to reach out to me with any questions that may arise. Be patient with yourself in the healing journey. Try not to judge anything that comes up. Be willing to witness yourself with compassion.
Yes, because Reiki blends seamlessly with any other modality, health care professionals find Reiki to be a powerful complement to conventional medicine.
